This  four day, instructor led Fundamentals of Networking course provides a comprehensive introduction to essential networking concepts and technologies. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how networks function, including the principles of data communication and connectivity. The course covers key networking components such as switches, routers, and firewalls, along with various connection methods used to link multiple devices within a network.

Participants will explore how devices communicate to send and receive information, as well as the role of networking in modern organizations. The course also introduces industry standards, security policies, common networking protocols, and emerging trends in IP data networking. Designed for those looking to build a strong networking foundation, this course is ideal for beginners and professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of network infrastructure and operations.   • Explain how the evolution of communications and networking technologies has produced new business solutions.  
  • Differentiate between the standards, specifications, and technologies that drive current LAN connectivity.  
  • Examine the TCP/IP protocol family and how IP is used to support voice, video, data, and Internet communications.  
  • Analyze how Layer 2 networking technology is used for end-point connectivity and developing VLAN resiliency to meet business requirements.  
  • Describe how Layer 3 networking protocols are used to establish communications over the network.  
  • Describe the wireless standards and security methodologies used to increase business productivity.  
  • Explain how VoIP allows modern networks to carry regular voice traffic.  
  • Describe unified communications and Session Initiation Protocol.  
  • Analyze how fault, configuration, asset control, performance, security (FCAPS) is used for network management.

Prerequisites

  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with operating systems.
  • An understanding of fundamental IT concepts such as hardware, software, and the internet.
  • No prior networking experience is required, but exposure to basic technical concepts is beneficial

Recommended Experience

  • Work experience in the IT field, specifically IT security
  • CompTIA Network+ or EC-Council CEH certifications or hold equivalent experience and knowledge
