Course Overview
This one day, instructor led Developing others course focuses on Mentoring and Coaching and how to better develop your employees for higher performance. Coaching is a process of relationship building and setting goals. How well you coach is related directly to how well you are able to foster a great working relationship with your employees through understanding them and strategic goal setting. Course topics will include: the differences in coaching and mentoring, goal setting, identification of strengths and weaknesses, overcoming obstacles, methods for development, proving feedback and constructive criticism, creating a personal action plan, build relationship and developing trust and motivation. After taking this course, participants will have the confidence to implement coaching and mentoring within their organization and understand how to combat performance issues. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define coaching, mentoring and the GROW model.
- Recognize the differences between coaching and mentoring.
- Set appropriate goals using the SMART technique for goal setting.
- Identify the steps necessary in defining the current state or reality of your employee’s situation.
- Create steps in developing a finalized plan or wrapping it up and getting your employee motivated to accomplish those plans.
- Appreciate the benefits of building and fostering trust with your employees
- Achieve giving effective feedback while maintaining trust.
- Overcome common obstacles.
- Transition your employee to other growth opportunities.
