Course Overview

This four-day course is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to secure virtualized environments as an administrator or end user, including the principles of virtualization, using VMware administrator and end-user tools, securing virtual machines and infrastructure, configuring endpoint security, and designing incident response and disaster recovery strategies for virtual environments. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the fundamental principles of virtual environments
  • Identify common security threats to virtual infrastructure
  • Use VMware end-user and administrator tools
  • Use scripting tools tailored to virtual environments
  • Secure hypervisors and virtual networks
  • Deploy secure virtual machines  and endpoints
  • Implement secure communication for virtual desktops and management interfaces
  • Apply secure logging and auditing procedures in virtual environments
  • Design robust incident response strategies for virtual networks
  • Adapt change management and configuration management policies to virtual infrastructure

Course Audience

  • This course is intended for VMware administrators and end users who will plan, maintain, or operate in secure virtual environments.
  • Students should understand the basic principles of cybersecurity and IT operations in traditional static environments; they do not need to have prior experience with managing virtual environments in VMware or other virtualization platforms.
