It was officially announced Friday the 13th of March 2015 (which shouldn’t be any indication of the future of this certification) that AXELOS would be launching a new ITIL® qualification in Q4 of 2015.
The ITIL® Practitioner Certificate in IT Service Management will be focused on practice and specialty. This qualification is meant to demonstrate that ITSM pros are well-equipped to apply ITIL® concepts.
This will provide the confidence managers need to initiate and perform required improvement initiatives in order to produce maximum business value.
So if this sounds like a certification you need, here is our cert details breakdown to answer any questions you may have:
Who is this certification for?
This is primarily geared toward managers and team leaders.
What does the certification cover?
The Practitioner certification is derived from various elements in the ITIL® process. A strong focus is given to Continual Service Improvement but also on other practical elements such as:
How does this fit into the overall ITIL qualification scheme?
The Practitioner certification will be the next step after a candidate completes ITIL® Foundation, but it is not a prerequisite to the Intermediate courses. This certification is considered an additive, not a replacement, to the structure of the existing ITIL® qualification scheme.
Will this count as points toward ITIL Expert?
It will! Once Axelos determines the complexity of the exam a specific number of points will be assigned toward this certification.
What are the prerequisites?
Where and when can I take the Practitioner exam?
The certification will be introduced to delegates later this year. After the exam and syllabus have been finalized then interested candidates will be able to register for training from any AXELOS Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) around the globe. The exam will be initially launched in English with additional languages added as demand insists.
