Phoenix TS will be attending the AFCEA International Cyber Symposium from June 25 – June 27, 2013 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Our Training and Certification Consultants will be available to discuss our customizable training solutions at Booth 514. The AFCEA International Cyber Symposium brings together the world’s leading names in cyber security for three days to discuss the major challenges and threats of today’s cyber arena.
“Defining Full Spectrum Global Cyberspace Operations”
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) was first established in 1946 and since then education has remained one of its core values. In accordance with this value, the theme for the 2013 conference is “Defining Full Spectrum Global Cyberspace Operations” and will focus primarily on training today’s cyber workforce for maintaining operational security.
AFCEA strives to bring together the world’s leaders in cyber security in order to develop the best practices for growing cyber teams and combating the national threat posed by potential cyber-attacks. The AFCEA International Cyber Symposium attracts key players from the Cyber Industry as a whole, Academic world, International Cyber Community and U.S. Government.
The focus on national security leads AFCEA to collaborate with several units of the U.S. Cyber Command force in order to develop the symposium’s speaker list and learning sessions for attendees. These units include:
- Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
- Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
- Army Cyber Command
- Marine Corps Forces Cyber Command
- U.S. Coast Guard
- 24th Air Force Cyber
- 10th U.S. Fleet Cyber Command
- National Security Agency (NSA)
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
- DoD-CIO
CEUs Issued for Session Attendance
Cyber space constantly evolves and new threats and challenges are exposed every day. Due to this, all players within the industry agree that continual education is the key to successfully combating the cyber security issues we are faced with. Federal agencies, in particular, support the notion of continuous training for developing both offensive and defensive cyber security skills; in order to push this throughout their workforce, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are required to maintain certification under the DoD 8570.01 directive. As a means to help certified individuals maintain their DoD 8570.01 credentials, the AFCEA International Cyber Symposium will be offering CEUs for qualified individuals who attend specific learning sessions.
